Two different pots of money get mixed up all the time. This page keeps them apart.
Paid by you straight to the provider — cash, M-Pesa or bank. Never touches Sokoni, so Sokoni cannot refund it.
Paid by a provider to Sokoni for a subscription or a boost. This one really is ours, so we can refund it under the rules below.
On Merik Sokoni you pay the provider directly. Cash in hand, M-Pesa to their number, or bank transfer — whichever they accept and you both agree.
The platform never receives that money. There is no escrow, no wallet and no commission. We have nothing to send back, so we cannot issue a refund for a job, and we cannot force a provider to give one.
What we can do is read the order record and the chat, mediate between the two of you, and act against a provider who is behaving badly. Section 4 explains that.
An order moves through fixed stages, and what can be cancelled depends on where it has got to.
| Stage | What it means | Can it be stopped? |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Sent to the provider, not accepted yet | Yes. Nothing is agreed. Ask in chat and the provider declines it. |
| Accepted | Provider has taken the job | Yes, but be quick and be reasonable — they may already be on the way. |
| In progress | Provider has started the work | Only by agreement. The provider can close it with a reason. |
| Completed | The OTP has been entered, or the system closed it automatically | No. Completion is final. Raise a complaint instead. |
An order that is left "in progress" for more than 7 days is closed automatically by the system and marked complete, with a note on the order saying so. No OTP is used. If that happens and the job was never actually done, tell us — the record shows plainly that no code was ever entered.
Cancelling an order never moves money by itself, in either direction. If cash or M-Pesa has already changed hands, the two of you have to sort that out — see the next section.
Do not hand over the OTP until the work is genuinely finished. Once the provider enters it, the order is marked complete and there is no way to reverse that.
This is the money that genuinely passes through Merik Sokoni: provider subscriptions and one-off boosts, bought from the Pricing page. It is paid by card through Paystack, by M-Pesa through Safaricom Daraja, or in cryptocurrency through NOWPayments.
| You paid by | Refund goes to | Usual time |
|---|---|---|
| Card (Paystack) | The same card | 5 to 10 working days after we approve it |
| M-Pesa | The number that paid | Within 5 working days |
| Cryptocurrency (NOWPayments) | A wallet address you give us, in the same coin | Within 5 working days |
